Not to be outdone by soon-to-be ex-wife Ashlee Simpson, who was spotted canoodling with a new man in mid-June, Pete Wentz has gone and stirred up budding-romance rumors of his own. On Sunday, the Fall Out Boy rocker was photographed in Los Angeles grabbing coffee with Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg.
Interestingly enough, Wentz, 32, and Trachtenberg, 25, dated before Wentz married Simpson in 2008. Could a simple coffee date be a way of sparking up the relationship again?
If so, 26-year-old Simpson might not be too psyched. During a run-in with Trachtenberg in 2009, Simpson reportedly went off on Michelle, screaming, "I hope you know, the whole time you were dating Pete, I was f***ing him!"
Hopefully a rekindled Wentz-Trachtenberg romance wouldn't change the dynamic between Wentz and Simpson, who have appeared to be on pretty good terms since their split -- especially regarding the custody of their 2-year-old son Bronx. For a while, the two seemed so affectionate toward each other that they even sparked media speculation that a a reconciliation might be in the cards. But those rumors were put to rest in mid-June, when Simpson was photographed kissing Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza during a very PDA-filled stroll through New York City.
Old flames Wentz and Trachtenberg have yet to comment to the press on the status of their relationship.
