In 1987, Patrick Swayze famously declared, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." Now it seems a new generation of moviegoers will get the chance to fall in love with Baby and her coming-of-age story all over again.

"High School Musical" director Kenny Ortega has announced that he will direct a remake of the classic film, which starred Swayze and Jennifer Grey. No cast has been announced, but in a statement to EW.com, Ortega said, "The opportunity to direct 'Dirty Dancing' is like returning home for me. ... Patrick Swayze set the bar for men dancing in the movies as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire did before him. I believe everywhere you look there is evidence that the talent is out there and I can't wait to begin the process of discovering the next breakout triple-threats."

Ortega certainly has the résumé to tackle such a project. He was once attached to the "Footloose" remake before passing on that project. He was behind the "HSM" flicks, helmed "Michael Jackson's This Is It" and back in the day directed movies like "Newsies" and "Hocus Pocus."

For those unfamiliar with the story of "Dirty Dancing," it revolves around Baby (Grey) and her family, who are vacationing in New York's Catskills Mountains. The social politics of the 1960s provide the backdrop as Baby falls in love with the resort's star dancer, Johnny Castle (Swayze). The star-crossed lovers embark on a romance that includes lots of, you guessed it, dancing, dirty and otherwise. The remake will feature music of the time period.

The film's breakthrough track, "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" (performed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes), recently got updated by the Black Eyed Peas when it was sampled for their song "The Time (Dirty Bit)."

"I think it's crazy the way the world works, because ['Dirty Dancing' star] Jennifer Grey is now on 'Dancing With the Stars,' and for some reason that song kind of meant something to us, because we kind of have had an amazing run. I mean, it just keeps going and it keeps going," Fergie explained to MTV News of the sample's significance.

"And we really feel like we have had the time of our lives together, and it's kind of weird how the world works," she continued about the funky track. "And that song reminds me of [Grey] and 'Dirty Dancing' and that whole time, so it's just, I don't know, it all fit."
